Fresh Clean Hallways

Did you know that the aroma of the hallway is your unique fingerprint to your guests? Did you also know that they are often one of the rooms in the home without windows? This area tends to collect all of the aromas in one place…think fish dinner, floral arrangement, and teen shoes all in one place. This room of the home tends to be one of the neglected rooms of the home, let’s change that today.

Citrus essential oils such as lemon, lime, bergamot and grapefruit are great for the hallway! They are uplifting and can give the impression of a clean, fresh home when guests enter in. It’s a great way to get up and moving and even out the door first thing in the morning.

In the afternoon, add in an essential oil blend with geranium, clary sage, or orange in it. This tends to be the time of day when things are calmer making these excellent to reach for.  Expecting company, pair with a citrus oil, like lemon, and your guests will receive an aromatic treat as they enter your home and should feel pretty good before sitting down. I don’t know, citrus is just pure happiness in a bottle for me, especially grapefruit.

In the evenings, upon winding down for the day, you can add a little lavender into the diffuser. This is a wonderful essential oil to use before bedtime. Got kids? Get lavender.

Hallways bring a lot of traffic in and through them. Things like scuff marks and fingerprints tend to show up quickly.

You can make wiping down painted walls more enjoyable by incorporating essential oils.

The properties of essential oils not only allow them to smell good, but they offer some powerful cleaning benefits to them as well. This is why you see them being added to a lot of cleaning supplies.

Add 1 drop essential oil to 2 tsp. white vinegar and mix. Then add to your bowl or bucket of cleaning water. The smell of the vinegar will slowly evaporate as you wipe down surfaces, leaving you with the delightful aroma of essential oils.

Essential Oil-Infused Wine

Did you know that you could enhance the experience and flavor of a good glass of wine simply by adding essential oil to the moment? Have I peaked your interest? Well then let me share with you what I have learned…

When selecting a wine, I learned that there are a few categories and terms to choose from. Terms such as woodsy, warm, crisp, fruity, floral, etc… You can do the same with essential oils and pair them accordingly. Let me show you how:

Riesling, for example, would pair well with a fruity essential oil such as mandarine, tangerine, lemon, lime, orange, grapefruit, jade lemon, or a fruity blend such as Citrus Fresh.

A woodsy wine would pair well with cedarwood, juniper, spruce, or fir.

A more floral based wine could pair lavender, rose, geranium, etc…

When talking about pairing essential oils with wine, there are two ways to enjoy this combination. One is simply inhaling the paired essential oil by running a diffuser in the desired room. The other would be to add to your glass, bottle, or recipe of the chosen drink of choice. Here are a few fun recipes to try.

The wonderful thing about adding essential oils to the evening is that they don’t interfere with the wine, they enhance it. May you take delight in trying something new with your next glass of wine.
