In this modern world of technology, overflowing with text messages, e-mails, etc… there is nothing than can replace a handwritten letter received in the mail by a loved one. Nothing.
Writing is art. It is the expression of the mind and the heart, flowing out from the individual, onto paper, in a way that creatively expresses them. It is an expression of self that many do not experience because it is so different from an ordinary conversation. And yet, many say that hand-writing is dead.
I was told that schools will no longer teach cursive because it has been replaced with computers. This saddens me. The more we use man-made technology, the more we should realize that hand-writing is very much a necessity. When the computer crashes, or the power is out, there is still pen and paper and candlelight.
