A friend of mine posted that she had made some cloth disinfectant wipes for her home and I just had to try it! Most of the recipes call for vinegar and neither my husband or I are big fans of that smell around the house. Thankfully, Young Living has a powerful all-purpose cleaner called Thieves (consists of the following pure, therapeutic-grade essential oils: Clove, Lemon, Cinnamon Bark, Eucalyptus, and Rosemary), and it smells WONDERFUL!
The essential oils in this cleaner are for increased cleaning power around your home. Wipe down surfaces, doorknobs, etc…and feel safe knowing that you are not only cleaning but disinfecting as well.
Homemade Disinfectant Wipes Recipe
You will need:
- a container to store your wipes in (baby wipes or old Clorox wipes container is perfect, I used a container with lid
- old white t-shirts
- 1 cup water
- Thieves all-purpose household cleaner
Cut white t-shirts into strips the size of regular disinfectant wipes, or to the size of your liking.
Than place one by one into the container. This does not have to be nice and neat.
In a small measuring cup or glass, add the 1 cup of water and a capful of Thieves. Stir to blend and than pour over your cloths in the container.
I moved cloths around with my hand to ensure even distribution of the cleaning solution, placed lid on and gently shook.
Label container and you are ready to clean (I love how the flash from my camera hit the container, it gives it that “sparkle” :D)
Cleaning will never be the same! Making homemade household cleaners is fun, safe, effective and healthy for the entire family. Kids enjoy helping out around the house, it gives them a sense of “worth” to the family and it teaches them responsibility. We’ve gotten away from this due to all of the harmful ingredients in the store bought cleaners, definitely not something we’d want them handling. Now it’s time to engage them in the routines of the day once again and this time, we can teach them how to make their own natural, safe and effective cleaners in the process.
